Niemann-Pick病C型治療の最適化のための循環型トランスレーショナル・リサーチ

ニーマン・ピック病C型(NPC)は、コレステロールなどの細胞内輸送に関わる蛋白質（NPC1またはNPC2）の遺伝子変異により細胞内脂質代謝・転送系が破綻する稀少難病であり、有効な治療法は未だ確立していません。近年、NPC治療を目的とした探索研究において、候補化合物の可溶化剤として用いたヒドロキシプロピル-β-シクロデキストリン(HP-β-CD)がNpc1欠損マウスの病状を改善することが偶然見出され、HP-β-CDのNPC患者への臨床使用が特認されています。しかし、NPC治療におけるHP-β-CDの適正使用に関する情報は不足しています。そこでHP-β-CDによるNPCを治療の最適化を企図したトランスレーショナル・リサーチおよびリバース・トランスレーショナル・リサーチ（TR-rTR）を展開しています。また、各種シクロデキストリン誘導体を中心とした、より有効かつより安全なNPCの治療薬の開発を目指した基礎研究も実施しています。
